Kamryn’s story.

Brachymetatarsia correction and a return to cheerleading

Brachymetatarsia

Kamryn had a shortened fourth toe, known as brachymetatarsia, as well as a bunion on her left foot. Dr. Noman A. Siddiqui treated both deformities, restoring the length of the short toe and correcting the bunion.

Her family chose a correction without an external fixation frame. The published account describes the use of a bone graft, plates and screws. This is a description of Kamryn’s procedure, rather than a recommendation that the same approach suits every patient.

The institutional story reports that she was pleased with her outcome and had resumed full activity, including cheerleading, four months after surgery. That timing belongs to her individual recovery; the appropriate technique and rehabilitation plan depend on the person’s anatomy, treatment and healing.

This account reflects the patient’s experience at the time of the original institutional story. It does not predict another person’s result or recovery timeline.
